Uform shaker kitchen
Ian & Pixie, Stottesdon, Shropshire
Ian & Pixie contacted us in regards to designing and supplying them with a kitchen. They had recently moved into a beautiful but rather tired and neglected house with a kitchen that most definitely needed bringing into the 21st century, the only saving grace being the large black aga.
We arranged an initial consultation visit with them in the comfort of their own home. We sat amidst the shambles of a kitchen and discussed what their vision was for the room. They had beautiful views across the Shropshire countryside that they couldn’t currently truly appreciate. What they were hoping to be able to do was open up the windows to embrace the view with the sink placed under one of the windows. They also had the existing aga along with a non-standard fridge that they wanted to incorporate into the space. They browsed through our catalogue pointing out what they did and didn’t like, sorted through door colour samples and worktop swatches all whilst we measured the space.
Having ascertained plenty of detail about what they hoped to create we set to work on planning the space. With Paul’s extensive building and joinery knowledge we were able to be confident that the windows could be enlarged and this was incorporated into the plans.
A follow up visit was scheduled and we returned with plans for them to view and discuss. They love the concept we were proposing and a few little tweaks here and there were made. They wanted to utilise every inch of the space and so an extra bespoke cupboard was added to the design. The existing fridge they wished to incorporate was not your standard kitchen height so Paul suggested that they include a length of timber worktop over the fridge. This worked seamlessly alongside the granite worktops and solved the height problem, plus gave them a perfect place to make home made bread.
Whilst we went back and made a few changes to the design and put together a quotation builders and window specialists were called in to look at the changes around the size of the windows.
We were delighted when Ian and Pixie decided to go ahead with us to assist them in creating their dream kitchen, and a significant makeover for what is now, very much the centre of their home.
The kitchen was placed on order and scheduled to arrive on a date post window replacement. The builder had a few technical issues and the delivery actually had to be delayed a couple of weeks but the fit went ahead despite the replacement windows not yet having been installed.
Being a large kitchen with bespoke units, that were created onsite in this instance, templating and fitting time for the granite worktop specialists, electricians and window fitters holding up proceedings, the fit was completed in about 4 weeks.
Then Pixie’s own design skills came into play and she has decorated and styled the kitchen beautifully. This is definitely a kitchen that both us at Country Interiors and Ian & Pixie are delighted with.
