Classic Cream Shaker kitchen
Giles & Cath, Shropshire
Cath contacted us regarding the redesign of her kitchen having started a sourdough bread making business during the first covid lockdown. The business had grown and her current kitchen just wasn’t up to the task.
Her criteria was the usual ‘look great’, and meet the practical needs of a family but also came with some technical requirements for the bread making. We learned along the way that wood is a better surface to work on when making bread so a wooden work area was a must, for this Cath chose an oak finish. Then she had a big beast of a mixing machine that some how needed to be incorporated into the kitchen to make access simpler than wheeling it in from the dining room like she was currently.
It was a kitchen that the family enjoyed being sociable in and she hoped to begin running bread making classes from. So a breakfast bar was important, space for their comfy sofa as well as incorporating the lovely view over the garden.
Cath had already been looking around and knew what she liked in regards to the door finish, granite worktops and of course a wooden area for bread making, plus they were working to a budget. But to date the designs she had been shown just didn’t ignite that spark.
Paul suggested that a small insignificant window was blocked up to enable a nice run of units around the corner and into a 900 gas hob. The long run of wooden worktop ran into the main laminate top that contained the sink, giving easy access to hand and utensil washing, it also gave the view across the garden. At the end of this run Paul suggested a bespoke unit that would house the ‘beast’.
Cath and Giles were delighted with the design along with the door and worktop options, as well as it all coming in on budget. We were delighted that they chose to trust us with creating and installing their kitchen, very much a central part of their home.
After the job was complete Cath and Giles left us this kind review.
Great quality kitchen and beautiful wooden worktop. Cleverly crafted design to come up with ideas we would not have thought of. Very good at keeping to the limits of our budget and suggesting options. And at adapting to any change of request. We are very pleased with the result of such a great quality family kitchen with plenty of room for home baking. Thank you
